“VENUS FROM THE SINK”

The canvas of this art quilt is a collage I created from illustrations by Emilia Dziubak and Sandro Botticelli's painting The Birth of Venus.

In creating this patchwork I made extensive use of fabric inks. The work is created using raw edge applique, embroidery and “free-hand” quilting. I also used gold thread to highlight Venus' hair.
